The Day After
Short summary of yesterday.
Only one "problem" yesterday. The heating system didn't show up so they couldnt install the stairs. (It is easier to install without them in.) So we couldn't check out the upstairs since no one wanted to go up their rickety ladder.
Supposedly the "shingles" should have been done today for the roof. Maybe tommorrow.

Bye Bye Goo
I finished sucking up the goo this morning. It is still wet and dirty, but you can, at least theoretically, walk in there with normal shoes.
I also got suprised with yet some more costs related to the digging and pumping etc. BooHoo!
I am getting a bit excited for tommorrow. I have to be at the house site at 06:30. I will probably arrive a little earlier to check things over. Anyway, I hope it doesn't rain from now until the next few days.
Wish me luck.

Help, the cellar has been slimed
Well, some of the water is out of the cellar. What was left was a mucky, muddy slime of water and dirt. The pump couldn't seem to pump this heavy water out of the cellar. (I think the pump was too weak.) We started cleaning up with a mop and worried it would take forever. One of our new neighbors walked by and offered us their industrial (wet/dry) vacuum to use. It works. We didn't quite finish it today, but kept up until hunger hit is in the evening. I will take tommorrow off of work as well and finish sucking up the goo.

Pump it up
I bought a pump today to pump the leftover rain water out of the cellar. The normal pumps didn't seem like they would do it. The help at this particular hardware store was clueless and had no ideas. A guy standing next to me said which pump I could use (it pumps down to 1mm).
Eventually I got the pump going. Went off to the promised land (McDonalds) as promised to the little one.
In the afternoon, I left the little one at the neighbors and went to check on my pump. It was off but a good quantity of water had been pumped out. I set it up again and went home.

Finishing up the cellar
Well it seems to have worked out between today and yesterday. The utility connections are all there and there is earth around the house.
Now I just need to figure out a way to get the rain water and mud out of the cellar.

I think the cellar is finished
Dropped by today (without my camera) and the cellar looks finished. The earth needed to be filled in around the cellar, as well today but this didn't happen. I hope this happpens tommorrow. Now the filling needs to be coordinated exactly with the re-digging of the hole for the utilities.
